infringe on its patents http://www.indystar.com/articles/5/094747-1445-031.html AT&T
Corp. smacked eBay Inc. with a patent infringement lawsuit Thursday, claiming
the online auction company has been using a payment system that the
telecommunications giant developed more than a decade ago. The case, filed in
Delaware, comes on the heels of an August verdict in which a Virginia judge
ordered eBay to pay $29.5 million to an inventor who accused the company of
stealing his ideas for fixed-price sales formats. EBay is appealing that case.
AT&T's suit demands that eBay pay an undisclosed amount in licensing fees
because its lucrative PayPal division functions as a "trusted intermediary"
between buyers and sellers who may not know each other. Index U.S. District

the court confirmed that two other related Eaton patents are also valid and
enforceable. Eaton filed the patent infringement suit against Parker on Aug. 15,

System for communicating through
maps
Abstract: An
HTTP server connected to the World Wide Web is described. The system allows a
user to post arbitrary information to any geographical region simply by
outlining the region on a map in the system's graphical user interface and
attaching the information to the outlined region. Any user of the system can
browse and receive these geographically relevant postings simply by identifying
a point or region of interest on one of the system's maps. Users with registered
accounts can elect to receive automatic email of postings that are relevant to
one or more of their primary geographical coordinates. Mobile users can
condition their cell phones or other communications devices to check into the
system periodically to receive geographically relevant postings as they travel.
The system can be used for communications with a geographically identified
group, for governmental and commercial communications with a particular
population, and for advertising, among other uses.

Methods and systems for managing
invention disclosures
Abstract: Methods
and systems for management of invention disclosures, in one exemplary
embodiment, utilizes a system including a server and at least one device
connected to the server via a network. The system restricts access of users
based upon job description. In addition, the system facilitates evaluation of
each invention disclosure by storing invention disclosure information input by
users and sorting invention disclosures based on criteria input by the submitter
as well as by other multiple users via the device. Invention disclosure
information is based upon at least one of an innovation disclosure, a
patentability assessment, an intrinsic value assessment, a competitive value
assessment and an overall assessment of the invention.

Plug-and-play smart data
cable The invention includes a smart, plug-and-play cable capable of
transparently translating between two different communication protocols. The
cables are "plug-and-play" such that two devices can be coupled together for
communication without the requirement that the user perform any special set-up
steps in order for it to work. To implement this plug-and-play functionality,
the smart cable of the present invention determines which communication
protocols are required at each of its ports, and selects, activates, enables, or
downloads the appropriate communication protocol drivers to enable proper
operation.
Electric shaver having orbitally moving blades An
electric shaver includes blades which while rotating around their own centers
also orbit around another axis, thus providing that the blades sweep a large
area.
Implantable fuel cell This invention makes use of an
electrostrictive material to increase the efficiency of a fuel cell as used
for the production of power within a human.
