Gobuty International USA Inc., maker of Handcuffs Sweatshirts, on Monday said it
filed a federal patent infringement suit against Nike Inc. The suit filed Friday
in the U.S. District Court for Southern New York seeks temporary and permanent
injunctions, and damages of $8 million plus punitive damages and fees from Nike
Inc. for its alleged violation of three patents held by Marshall Gobuty. The
patents cover Marshall Gobuty's sweatshirts and long-sleeved shirts which
feature attached, roll-up handwarmers. The suit alleges the Portland, Ore.-based
sportswear giant has manufactured, marketed and sold similar products through
its Web sites and retailers including Paragon Sports, Foot Locker, Eastbay and
Nordstrom.

parts maker ArvinMeritor Inc. said Friday it filed a patent infringement lawsuit
against rival Eaton Corp. over the development of transmission automation
technology. The lawsuit, filed in Charlotte, N.C., federal court, is seeking an
injunction to stop sales of Eaton's Ultrashift and AutoShift transmission
models, and also seeks damages for alleged past infringements. "This is an
extremely broad patent," said Tom Gosnell, president of ArvinMeritor's
commercial vehicle systems unit. "We believe that all of Eaton's automated
manual transmissions infringe on it. While we welcome fair competition in the
marketplace, we refuse to compete against our own patented technology
advancements." The two companies have been battling in court for the past seven
years over a number of different patent infringement cases. Index Mikohn Files

Gaming Corporation (Nasdaq:MIKN), a leading provider of diversified products and
services used in the gaming industry worldwide, announced today that it has
filed a complaint against Paltronics, Inc., for patent infringement, copyright
infringement, trademark infringement, violation of the Digital Millennium
Copyright Act and misappropriation of trade secrets. Russ McMeekin, President
and Chief Executive Officer of Mikohn, stated: "Our intellectual property is the
foundation of our Company. We will vigorously defend our rights and not tolerate
any infringement of any of our patents." This litigation, filed in the United
States District Court for the District of Nevada, on August 17, 2004, requests
various damages.

Abstract: A search
engine system assists users in locating web pages from which user-specified
products can be purchased. Web pages located by a crawler program are scored,
based on a set of rules, according to likelihood of including an online product
offering. A query server accesses an index of the scored web pages to locate
pages that are both responsive to a user's search query and likely to include a
product offering. In one embodiment, the responsive web pages are listed on a
composite search results page together with products that satisfy the query.

to fuel vehicles, while at the same time, to participate in a passive or

novel passive or interactive activities.

transparently translating between two different communication protocols. The
cables are "plug-and-play" such that two devices can be coupled together for
communication without the requirement that the user perform any special set-up
